Introduction

OfferStory AI ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application for interview preparation.

⚡ AI-Powered Features Disclosure

OfferStory AI uses OpenAI's GPT technology (GPT-4o-mini) to provide AI coaching features. When you enable and use AI features:

  • What is shared: The text transcript of your practice answer, the question, and the profile details you have added (such as first name, target role, interview date, experience, skills, and resume or job-description text) are sent through OfferStory's server (a Supabase edge function) to OpenAI to generate feedback. If you import a resume, its text and any job description are sent to OpenAI to parse them
  • What is NOT shared: Audio is not sent to OpenAI. Your spoken answer is converted to text by Apple's speech recognition, which may process the recording on your device or on Apple's servers
  • Your consent: AI features require your explicit consent before activation
  • Control: You can turn AI data sharing off at any time in Settings → AI Data Sharing
  • OpenAI's practices: OpenAI Privacy Policy

Important: By using AI coaching features, you acknowledge that your practice transcriptions will be processed by OpenAI's external AI systems.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

OfferStory AI collects information you provide directly, including:

  • Account Information: Email address if you sign in with Apple or with email and password, and name (optional). If you choose "Continue without account", the app creates an anonymous account for you and your data is saved to it in the same way
  • Interview Profile: First name, target role, interview date, experience level, resume text, job descriptions
  • Practice Data: Audio recordings, transcriptions, AI feedback from practice sessions
  • Answer Bank: Saved STAR stories and practiced responses
  • Offer Analysis (optional): Job-offer details you choose to enter, such as salary, equity, bonus, and total compensation
  • Feedback: Practice ratings and improvement suggestions

Automatically Collected Information

  • Usage Data: App features used, pages viewed, time spent
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, app version
  • Analytics: Feature usage and product interaction data (via PostHog)
  • Error Logs: Application errors and performance traces for debugging (via Sentry)
  • IP Address: Used to rate-limit some AI requests made before sign-in

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Location Data: We do not track your location
  • Cross-App Tracking: We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA), tracking pixels, or share data with advertisers. Our analytics are used solely for product improvement and are not used to track you across other apps or websites.
  • Sensitive Personal Data: No health or government ID information. Compensation details you choose to enter for Offer Analysis are handled as described in "Compensation and Offer Information" below.

Core Functionality

  • Fix bugs and improve app performance
  • Analyze usage patterns for product development

  • Send important app updates (via in-app notifications)
  • Respond to support requests
  • Send product updates (if you opt in)

3. Data Storage & Security

Storage

  • Primary Storage: Supabase (PostgreSQL database)
  • Your Account Data: Practice sessions (including transcripts and AI feedback), your answer bank, and your interview profile are saved to your OfferStory account in Supabase, including anonymous accounts, until you delete your account. Deleting a single session or saved answer in the app removes it from your device but not from your account
  • Recordings: Audio recordings of your answers can be saved to a private Supabase Storage bucket linked to your account, until you delete your account. The Delete Recordings option in Settings removes only the copies stored on your device
  • Local Storage: On-device storage for offline support
  • Location: Data stored in the United States (US West region)

Security Measures

  • Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (TLS). Data is processed on our server and by the service providers listed below, so it is not end-to-end encrypted
  • Authentication: Sign in with Apple, email and password, or an anonymous account
  • Access Control: Row Level Security (RLS) ensures you can only access your own data
  • Regular Backups: Automated daily backups (7-day retention)

4. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We Do NOT Share Your Data With:

  • Advertisers: Never
  • Data Brokers: Never
  • Recruiters or Employers: Never

Service Providers

  • Supabase — database and storage
  • OpenAI — AI feedback, question generation and resume parsing when you use AI features (text only, never audio)
  • Apple — speech recognition (converting your spoken answers to text) and payment processing
  • Sentry — crash reporting and error tracking
  • PostHog — product analytics and session replay (PostHog Privacy Policy)
  • RevenueCat — subscription management and purchase processing (RevenueCat Privacy Policy)

Compensation and Offer Information

If you use Offer Analysis, you may enter job-offer details such as salary, equity, bonus, and total compensation. This text is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate market-rate analysis and counter-offer drafts, and may be stored in your account on Supabase so you can revisit it. We treat this as sensitive personal/financial information: we do not sell it, and you can delete it at any time in Settings or by contacting us.

5. Your Rights & Choices

Access & Export

  • View Your Data: All data visible in app
  • Export Data: JSON export available in Settings → Privacy & Data
  • Request Data: Contact support@offerstory.ai for data export

Deletion

  • Delete Account: Settings → Delete Account. This is available for anonymous accounts too. It deletes your practice sessions, transcripts, answer bank, profile, feedback and recordings from our database and storage, and then your account
  • Data Deletion: Account data held in our database and storage is permanently deleted within 30 days
  • Backup Deletion: Deleted from backups within 90 days
  • Service Providers: Copies already sent to OpenAI, PostHog, Sentry or RevenueCat are kept under those providers' own retention policies

Analytics

  • We use PostHog for product analytics to understand how features are used and improve the app experience
  • Analytics events include feature usage, screen views, and app lifecycle events
  • Analytics data is linked to your account for product improvement but is never shared with advertisers or used for cross-app tracking
  • PostHog may capture session recordings (screenshots of app screens), linked to your app user ID, to help us identify usability issues. Text you type, images and some system views are masked; other text shown on screen is not masked. Recordings do not capture data outside the app.
  • You can turn analytics off with the Analytics switch on the app's Privacy & Data screen (open Settings, then Delete account); this also stops crash reporting through Sentry

Subscriptions & Purchases

  • We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and purchases
  • RevenueCat processes your purchase history and subscription status to provide and maintain your subscription
  • Purchase data is linked to your account for analytics and app functionality
  • We do not sell your purchase data or share it with third parties other than the service providers listed above

6. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.

7. Children's Privacy

OfferStory AI is designed for adult job seekers preparing for interviews. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Users must be at least 18 years old to use this service.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes via in-app notification, email (if you've provided one), or by updating the "Last Updated" date.
