Introduction

OfferStory AI ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application for interview preparation.

⚡ AI-Powered Features Disclosure

OfferStory AI uses OpenAI's GPT technology (GPT-4o-mini) to provide AI coaching features. When you enable and use AI features:

  • What is shared: Transcriptions of your practice answers are sent to OpenAI for analysis
  • What is NOT shared: Audio recordings are processed on-device and never sent externally
  • Your consent: AI features require your explicit consent before activation
  • Control: You can disable AI features at any time in Settings → AI & Privacy
  • OpenAI's practices: OpenAI Privacy Policy

Important: By using AI coaching features, you acknowledge that your practice transcriptions will be processed by OpenAI's external AI systems.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

OfferStory AI collects information you provide directly, including:

  • Account Information: Email address, name (optional)
  • Interview Profile: Target role, experience level, resume text, job descriptions
  • Practice Data: Audio recordings, transcriptions, AI feedback from practice sessions
  • Answer Bank: Saved STAR stories and practiced responses
  • Offer Analysis (optional): Job-offer details you choose to enter, such as salary, equity, bonus, and total compensation
  • Feedback: Practice ratings and improvement suggestions

Automatically Collected Information

  • Usage Data: App features used, pages viewed, time spent
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, app version
  • Analytics: Feature usage and product interaction data (via PostHog)
  • Error Logs: Application errors for debugging (via Sentry)

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Location Data: We do not track your location
  • Cross-App Tracking: We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA), tracking pixels, or share data with advertisers. Our analytics are used solely for product improvement and are not used to track you across other apps or websites.
  • Sensitive Personal Data: No health or government ID information. Compensation details you choose to enter for Offer Analysis are handled as described in "Compensation and Offer Information" below.

  • Send product updates (if you opt in)

3. Data Storage & Security

Storage

  • Primary Storage: Supabase (PostgreSQL database)
  • Media Storage: Supabase Storage (encrypted)
  • Local Storage: On-device storage for offline support
  • Location: Data stored in the United States (US East region)

Security Measures

  • Encryption: All data encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest
  • Authentication: Secure email/password authentication
  • Access Control: Row Level Security (RLS) ensures you can only access your own data
  • Regular Backups: Automated daily backups (7-day retention)

4. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We Do NOT Share Your Data With:

  • Advertisers: Never
  • Data Brokers: Never
  • Recruiters or Employers: Never

Service Providers

  • Supabase — database and storage
  • OpenAI — AI analysis when you use AI features
  • Sentry — crash reporting and error tracking
  • PostHog — product analytics and session replay (PostHog Privacy Policy)
  • RevenueCat — subscription management and purchase processing (RevenueCat Privacy Policy)

Compensation and Offer Information

If you use Offer Analysis, you may enter job-offer details such as salary, equity, bonus, and total compensation. This text is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate market-rate analysis and counter-offer drafts, and may be stored in your account on Supabase so you can revisit it. We treat this as sensitive personal/financial information: we do not sell it, and you can delete it at any time in Settings or by contacting us.

5. Your Rights & Choices

Access & Export

  • View Your Data: All data visible in app
  • Export Data: JSON export available in Settings → Privacy & Data
  • Request Data: Contact support@offerstory.ai for data export

Deletion

  • Delete Account: Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete Account
  • Data Deletion: All data permanently deleted within 30 days
  • Backup Deletion: Deleted from backups within 90 days

Analytics

  • We use PostHog for product analytics to understand how features are used and improve the app experience
  • Analytics events include feature usage, screen views, and app lifecycle events
  • Analytics data is linked to your account for product improvement but is never shared with advertisers or used for cross-app tracking
  • PostHog may capture anonymous session recordings (screenshots of app screens) to help us identify usability issues. These recordings do not capture keyboard input or data outside the app.

Subscriptions & Purchases

  • We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and purchases
  • RevenueCat processes your purchase history and subscription status to provide and maintain your subscription
  • Purchase data is linked to your account for analytics and app functionality
  • We do not sell or share your purchase data with third parties

6. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.

7. Children's Privacy

OfferStory AI is designed for adult job seekers preparing for interviews. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Users must be at least 18 years old to use this service.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes via in-app notification, email (if you've provided one), or by updating the "Last Updated" date.
